Handmade in Japan

On the island of Kyushu in Japan, one of the country's last remaining families of Samurai sword makers are continuing a tradition their ancestors began nearly three centuries ago.

On Amami Oshima in the southern oceans, we follow the elaborate handmade production of a traditional Japanese kimono.

Follows one of Japan's most famous family of potters - the Hamadas. They have turned Mashiko into a major centre for ceramics and recently played a major role in saving the industry following the 2011 earthquake.
