The 2nd Company is reformed and transfered to the Western front to stop the Americans to penetrate Germany.
Otto and his comrades returned to the front after their unit was reorganized as the Volksgrenadier Division. In the autumn of 1944, they were hastily transferred west when American units attempted to break through the German front near Hürtgenwald.
