Overview
The Kindly Ones belongs with the second collection, The Doll's House, and the seventh, Brief Lives, in that it finishes off a story that mostly originated in these collections; but includes elements of Season of Mists and the story of Orpheus, told mostly in Fables and Reflections. The most structurally ambitious of the collections, The Kindly Ones is a single storyline written as a Greek tragedy, with Morpheus as its doomed hero and an aspect of the triad of witches, the Erinyes, as the Greek chorus. It pulls together various threads left dangling throughout the series, notably the grudges against Morpheus of several characters: Hippolyta Hall, the witches themselves, the Norse god Loki, and the witch Thessaly. The Kindly Ones also continues several other stories, including that of Cluracan of Faerie and his sister Nuala, that of the Corinthian, and that of Rose Walker and her former landlord Hal.

3. The Kindly Ones, Part 3
The identity of young Daniel's mysterious abductor is revealed, and Lyta receives some news that sends her down a dark path that is sure to have dire consequences for the Dreaming!
4. The Kindly Ones, Part 4
The angel Remiel pays a visit to Lucifer Morningstar to ask him a very important question. Meanwhile, Lyta Hall embarks on a journey that sends her through myths and legend, and Morpheus resurrects an old nightmare.
5. The Kindly Ones, Part 5
As Lyta's journey continues, her friends begin to piece together clues regarding her disappearance -- which unfortunately catches the attention of one of the story's key players.
6. The Kindly Ones, Part 6
Rose Walker journeys to England and encounters three mysterious women, who tell her the strange tale of the children who flew away.
7. The Kindly Ones, Part 7
Odin confronts Dream while a mysterious woman from the Sandman's past abducts Lyta Hall. Meanwhile, Lyta herself encounters the Furies and sets into motion a grave chain of events.
8. The Kindly Ones, Part 8
A week in the life of the Sandman as Rose gains a heart -- only to have it broken. Plus, first blood is shed in the Dreaming and the Furies state their intent to the Lord of the Dreaming.
9. The Kindly Ones, Part 9
The Furies bring death and chaos to the Dreaming! Meanwhile, the Corinthian and Matthew continue to piece together clues in their quest to find the missing Daniel.
10. The Kindly Ones, Part 10
The Furies attempt to draw out Morpheus by slowly eliminating all his allies in the Dreaming. Meanwhile, Nuala attempts to save her lord's life and Odin arrives to deal with his mischievous son.
11. The Kindly Ones, Part 11
Morpheus prepares for battle against the Furies as the Corinthian returns with the missing Daniel. However, is it too late to stop the events set in motion long ago?
12. The Kindly Ones, Part 12
A strange twist of fate results in hideous consequences that will affect the future of the Dreaming forever!
13. The Kindly Ones, Part 13
As everything comes to a close and pieces fall into place and changes everything about the Dreaming, one final conversation takes place between brother and sister.
