Corrinne James is a filmmaker, animator, and artist based in Los Angeles. She uses hand-drawn animation techniques to explore themes of guilt, purpose, and jealousy. She also creates music as Naomi Alligator.
Her recent work includes two original interstitials featured in Animation Mixtape, a theatrical anthology curated by Don Hertzfeldt and presented by Ink Films, currently touring cinemas across North America. She also collaborated with Hertzfeldt on his short film Paper Trail, providing animation support and original music. The film premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Short Film Special Jury Award for Creative Vision.
Corrinne has created animations and illustrations for both major-label and independent musicians, including Ice Spice, Snail Mail, Feeble Little Horse, Slow Pulp, and Emily Yacina. Her work for television includes Hulu’s food docu-series Searching for Soul Food, and she recently created an animated segment for Omar Jones’ AMIRA. She enjoys sharing her love of animation and regularly teaches workshops at Heavy Manners Library in Los Angeles.
