Biography

Giovanni Lugaro, known as Giovanni Amedeo Lugaro, is an italian independent filmmaker and cartoonist. He was born in Torino on February 22, 1997.

After some small animation exercises and several illustrations, in 2022 he made his directorial debut on his 25th birthday with the short film "Tooned Tunes - No Surprises".

The same year he began production on a new short film entitled "Censored/Approved", currently in the animation phase.

In 2023 he participated in Fraffrog's "Cat Animation", a project that involved more than 5,000 artists throughout Italy.

In parallel, he worked on "Bau-Boom!" released in October 2024, registered for the David di Donatello 2025 awards.

In 2025, a new short entitled "Figure in trasformazione" is released, influenced by the works of Norman McLaren, Mary Ellen Bute and abstract animation in general.

Also in 2025, he worked for a short time as a animation colorist on "Eglefino" at Animatò studio for Enanimation.

After all this, he wants to continue and finish "Censored/Approved" and work also on small experimental projects.
