Viktor Johansson, better known by his alter ego Pastel Purist (born March 12, 2006) is a Swedish director and visual artist known for poetic, introspective short films that explore identity, creativity and fear. Raised in Sweden, he began creating films at a young age, using the medium as a way to examine inner worlds. During the second half of 2024 he began uploading short films on Youtube which marked a start of a more serious direction.
Working under the name Pastel Purist, he developed a distinct cinematic language defined by quiet performances, natural soundscapes, and symbolic imagery. His work often blurs the line between autobiography and fiction, treating film as a personal diary rather than a traditional narrative format. Themes such as self-perception, fear, creativity, and becoming recur throughout his projects.
He gained wider recognition with the short film The Feeling You Forgot, which established his signature style and emotional tone. Pastel Purist continues to develop short-form and experimental projects, approaching filmmaking as a form of self-exploration and artistic honesty rather than performance or spectacle.
