Original BBC mini-series adaptation of E. Nesbit's 1904 book 'The Phoenix and the Carpet.' The story features four Edwardian children who find a strange egg in their newly-arrived Persian carpet. It hatches into a Phoenix bird that grants them wishes and also turns the rug into a magic carpet, which takes them on a series of adventures all over the world and at home.
A group of four Edwardian children discover a Phoenix, who then whisks them away on a fantastic adventure.
The children and the Phoenix return from France and then travel on to a secluded desert island.
The Cook is left behind, as the newly appointed Queen of the island, while the children continue on with another journey.
The children take the phoenix on a tour of London.
After the carpet is sent back to it's home country to pick up some presents, the children are not too happy with what it actually returns with.
The children arrange a marriage on the island, between Cook and the burglar.
When the children's house is burgled, they take the burglar to the deserted island.
When the children take the Phoenix to the theatre, he gets so excited that he starts a fire.
